Las Vegas entertainment suggestions for the Tri Psi convention from Shari Treumann & Rhoda Ebersole.

Prices may vary from prices listed below.

# 1 — Mat Franco at the LINQ has an excellent magic show for all ages. He was a winner on America’s Got Talent.  He has interesting patter between the magic trips. I went with my son and grandchildren and we were all enthralled.  Prices for our tickets were $104 plus additional taxes and fees. I highly recommend his show.

Olive and Khush enjoyed his show when they were in town in January.

# 2 — Ventriloquist Terry Fator is at the Mirage. He was also a winner on America’s Got Talent. I saw his show for the first time recently and it was a fast paced colorful show in good taste for a wide age range audience appeal. He is an excellent musician and can mimic many musical styles with an excellent backup band.  His delivery is smooth and I felt some of the puppets were real people. Tickets were about $75 including taxes and fees. Both the LINQ and Mirage theaters are small enough that you can sit anywhere and have a good view and both had large video screens for audience viewing.

# 3 — Near Sam’s Town is Wetlands Park Nature Perseve on Broadbent just north of the UNLV Sam Boyd Footall Stadium. Admission is free and it has a visitor’s center with interesting and educational nature displays and a large multi-acre park with hiking trails just a few miles from Sam’s Town Hotel.

# 4 — Ethel M’s Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden is 5 or 6 miles from the Hotel.  The cactus garden is neatly manicured with name labels for all the cactus, bushes and trees. Admission is free. Ethel M’s offers a quick tour of the chocolate factory and free sample of chocolate to visitors.

Rhoda Ebersole’s Las Vegas Convention Suggestions

  • If you have a car or wish to hire transportation, Hoover Dam is about 10-miles south of our hotel and convention site, Sam’s Town.

  • The National Atomic Testing Museum, 755 E Flamingo Road, is very interesting. The museum has 8,000 sq. ft. of exhibits and rare artifacts telling the backstory of our nation’s nuclear weapons testing program at the Nevada Test Site. Tri Psi toured this facility years ago.

  • The Valley of Fire State Park is listed in the Desert Companion as the Best Day Trip. It is an hour north on I-15. It is a trove of natural wonders such as the whimsical Elephant Rock and the impressive White Domes.

  • Springs Preserve is a 20-minute drive from our hotel and charges admission, but it is educational and very well done with a hands-on series of exhibits with the history of Las Vegas and the reasons for water preservation in the desert climate.

  • The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden always has a spectacular display just off the lobby with a Chihuly glass ceiling.  Check out the floral arrangements in the lobby and at the front desk, which are all real flowers, which are usually orchids.

  • The  Cirque du soleil shows at the various venues offer wonderful entertainment.  The prices vary, so look for discount coupons online.

  • If you are wanting to extend your stay in a non-hotel.  Siena Suites has one and two-bedroom suites with kitchenettes available located about a mile south on Boulder Highway.

  • I would suggest downloading the Uber and Lyft apps since they charge half the fare of the Yellow Cabs to and from everywhere. If you are coming directly from the airport, instruct the cab drivers to take the East Russell Road route to Sam’s Town and do not let them “long haul” you around the area on the I-215 Interstate to inflate the fare.

  • Important reminder. Sam’s Town is on the very busy Boulder Highway, so ALWAYS CROSS ONLY AT THE INTERSECTIONS USING THE CROSS-WALKS if you have to cross the highway at all.  And ALWAYS travel with another person or in groups NEVER alone.  Watch your valuables on the Strip and watch your surroundings wherever you are just as you would in any big city in the world today.

  • Thank you. Let’s have a wonderful time together sharing Tri Psi love. Rhoda Ebersole
